Disable thumbs.db in Windows 7 Home Premium

email

This was tested on a Windows 7 Ultimate installation and did not seem to work correctly after rebooting.

Open a command prompt. Type gpedit, enable the following setting and then reboot.

User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Explorer > Turn off the caching of thumbnails in hidden thumbs.db files

So far, after deleting a few of the thumbs.db files and then viewing the directory again, they haven’t been recreated.

If you know of a solution for Windows 7 Home Premium system installation please let me know.  I could be wrong but I am pretty sure Windows 7 still creates the thumbs.db files.
