How do I design a good web page?
Concerned with search engines, we like to see truly original text content intended to be of value to the public. The search engine algorithm is sophisticated and is designed to match the regular text in Web pages to search queries; therefore, no special treatment needs to be done to the text in the pages.
HTMLgraphic Designs encourages web designers to focus most of their energy on the content of the pages themselves. Energy spent optimizing for search engines is useful up to a point; but beyond that it tends to be counterproductive.
Make basic choices about web design that favor indexability. For instance, making framed sites search-engine friendly is a tricky business because each page that is to be indexed must be its own frameset with its own URL. If one is heavily oriented toward Flash, JavaScript or style sheets, make sure there are provisions so that site can be used and navigated with those features turned off. This is because search engines operate on text. Anything you do to accommodate the vision-impaired or wireless browsers helps you with search engines. Good web design includes good indexability.
